The year is 2050 and through a combination of scientific innovation and corporate funding, an expedition has been launched to colonize the lunar surface. It is up to you to manage the funding and resources to ensure that mankind realizes its dream of going back to the moon….
Welcome to Shackleton Crater
Shackleton Crater is a fast paced turn based strategy game, where we put you in a command position within the future UN lunar expedition effort, LunaCorp. The primary mission is for you to create, grow and sustain a colony on the surface of the Moon.
Using research and real lunar data from space agencies around the world, as well as our own analysis into the future of space travel and habitation, we are able to confidently give our players a viable view of the future of lunar colonization and exploration.
From there, anything is possible. Through challenging objectives and dynamic events, the players are able to accomplish the ultimate goal – create a thriving civilization on the Moon. Whether it is your dream to build nations on the Moon or simply use advanced technologies to further scientific discovery, you are only limited by your creativity and persistence.
Shackleton Crater will offer four stages of non-combative play.
Stage 1: Introduction – Here the player starts at the small scale, focusing on learning the gameplay elements and understanding the strategic dynamics of the game. They are giving the initial resources for colonization and tasked with creating a stable habitat.
Stage 2: Expansion – At this stage the player has become more self-sufficient and is beginning to expand into and away from Shackleton Crater. The deliveries from Earth are much less needed as resources are being retrieved and structures are being built on the Moon itself.
Stage 3: Exploration – With the initial base successfully thriving through the player’s management, they are now able to explore the Moon’s surface. Here they will search out new resources and possible sites in which to build further colonies.
Stage 4: Campaign – The objective of stage four is to capitalize upon the findings of your expeditions in stage 3 by building special installations and facilities upon points of interest. For example, players will want to find the tallest mountain on the dark side of the moon to build an interstellar communications tower.
All of these stages can be successfully accomplished either solo or with up to four players. Our multiplayer design principles guarantee that there is plenty of great game for everyone involved. This realistic sci-fi vision of the future will be yours to control in the Spring of 2014 on the latest systems for both Tablet and PC.
